Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett’s Good Omens is getting a second season at Amazon. Michael Sheen and David Tennant are onboard to reprise their roles as the angel Aziraphale and the demon Crowley, respectively. Gaiman and Douglas Mackinnon will serve as executive producers and showrunners. Mackinnon is also once again directing the series. John Finnemore will serve as a co-writer with Gaiman.
Since the first season so wonderfully adapted the novel, the second season will go beyond the source material. Arizaphale and Crowley are still living amongst mortals when an unexpected messenger presents a surprising mystery.
Gaiman stated on his blog that he and Pratchett had talked about where the story of Good Omens went next and plotted the sequel. Said Gaiman, “We fully intended to write it, whenever we next had three or four months free. Only I went to live in America and Terry stayed in the UK, and after Good Omens was published Sandman became SANDMAN and Discworld became DISCWORLD™ and there wasn’t ever a good time. But we never forgot it. …
Terry was clear on what he wanted from Good Omens on the telly. He wanted the story told, and if that worked, he wanted the rest of the story told.”
